TFCC Congratulates Consolidated Edison, Named Most Reliable Utility in Northeast
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 01, 2006
Columbus, Ohio:Â Twenty First Century Communications congratulates its valued client Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. Con Edison was named the Most Reliable Electric Utility for the Northeast Region of the United States by PA Consulting Group, an international consultant that presents its signature “ReliabilityOne” awards annually to utilities that have excelled in delivering reliable electric service to their customers. Con Edison provides the most reliable electric service in the country. The system performs at a level that is seven times above the national average. The award was presented recently during a ceremony in Miami, Florida.
Twenty First Century Communications is pleased to support Consolidated Edison with TFCC’s Universal Communications System (UCS). UCS provides targeted emergency notification services to client-defined groups or geographical areas – by phone, fax, pager, PDA and/or e-mail – all via the same web-enabled system. TFCC’s UCS system provides Consolidated Edison with two automated telephony applications. One program performs Business Continuity communications, while the other enables Consolidated Edison to automatically call its critical care customers, alerting them to planned power outages and providing restoration information.
Consolidated Edison has close to 2,500 customers identified as requiring critical care during power outages. During the 2003 New York blackout, Twenty First Century called all the individuals on the utility’s Life Sustaining Equipment and Medical Hardship list to provide information and advice during that major power outage. The process was repeated later at the utility’s request. In all, nearly 5,000 calls were made to critical care customers.
